Anybody know the maker of this etched glass tumbler. The devil seems an unusual subject for an etched pattern...my searches don't help. Looks like a 1920's or so style tumbler. Thanks for any info. DSCN4657.JPG DSCN4658.JPG DSCN4659.JPG

Not a typical US style but the border looks familiar. This will push it up.

Just a thought. The devil appears on the labels of a number of different liquors. Maybe it was some type of promotional item?

    Made for "demon rum"?

The etched border looks to be what is called "Minton" most often seen gold encrusted, but also found not encrusted. Although the maker of the glass might be determined from the border, I doubt the knowing the maker will help ID the pattern. My gut says it was done by an outside decorator. No matter who decorated it, I'm betting it was a special order, maybe a promo item as other's have suggested.

Minton and other types of borders were sold as strips of resist, to be applied by glass manufacturers and/or decorators. It's probably the least reliable clue for manufacturer.

Thanks for all your intriguing ideas. Guess I'll run it up the eBay flagpole and see if anyone salutes. Appreciate your comments.
