Thanks, I 'll check those. I don't know how accurate is the artist depiction the buildings.
There are quite a few observatories in US. The painting was acquired in Virginia so maybe I should check images of the one in the state and the nearby states first.

 

Lick Observatory, San Jose Calif? I just googled "double observatories" and that one looks similar.
Just google the term and click on Images on the top of the page and you'll see more.

 

Thanks, I will check it out. There seem to be a lot of double observatories, some very similar to each other. It's hard to tell because of the different viewing angles of the found images on google. And then again, who knows if the painting and the details of the structures are depicted accurate after the original.
I think one clue could be the tall poll (or two) or whatever it is, at the back of the buildings.
