Just saw these 2 trays at the store. At first I thought they might be Vintage Mexican Redware ,but the back is completely glazed on the reverse of both. They're about 10" and 14" across (diff sizes-no marks) and SORRY- no pics of the backs.
Any help is appreciated big time- Thanks !

I think they're Spanish. If I remember correctly, from Úbeda? Let me do some research and I'll be back.

Yeah, it's Úbeda where green pottery is traditional. Dunno about shapes and motif.

They're very nice. Don't look quite right for Spain though. Handles and design a bit too exuberant. You sure not Oaxaca? Look a bit too sophisticated for México though.

You know Debora-I think you're right abt them being Oaxaca. The backs are fully glazed(maybe not so in the old days ?) -but the style & 'earthiness' of the pieces does look like Mexican Redware.
PS-The glossiness of the glaze kinda reminds me of a Majolica glaze formula-you think ?

Green glazed ceramics used to be made all over Europe as well. It is one of those 'kitchen colours', along with cream-yellow and brown.
Green glaze is also used a lot in Morocco, but their green ceramics are not carved.

Maybe you can find the origin if you focus on the design. Guessing maybe Hungary?

Agree re need to keep looking. Not naive enough for México and I don't see that handled-shape and similar motifs coming out of Úbeda.

Too true and thank you both for the help ! Anything that engages, even captivates my lazy brain is a damn good thing.Never hurts to broaden one's field of study & lord knows there enough of this green glaze around to make it worthwhile.
This folksy green stuff touches on Portugal,Oaxaca,Hungarian,Latvian and probably more places-Wow ! Wish me luck, but I do get great kick out of web surfing.
