Hello all, while cleaning up my storage I found this big tin plate which has 1848 on it. I did some research but couldn't find anything. Maybe one of you knows where it is from, who made it or for who it was?
The size of the plate is 39cm across.
It has a name on it: J&G Maartin Dudrich Piaruo
next to the name there is the year 1848 which makes me think it's been made in that year.
    Here are some pictures:

Thanks in advance for any help!

    With kind regards,

The sticker suggests its Pewter and from Bruges in Belgium.

The sticker is from the 1950s or later. The engraving is fauxtique. The condition is poor.

    Welcome, Jacob.

I agree, the sticker is much too recent for 1848. A replica?
It has had a hard life.
It is 95% tin, European continental tin has a more precise and guaranteed tin content than pewter.
Maarten Diedrick is more likely, given the Flemish origin. Can't make sense of the last name though.

The next part are first or Christian names. Even as surnames they would be highly unusual.
Maarten is Martin, but unlike Martin I've never heard it used as a surname. Diedrick is like Didier in French or Dieter/Dietrich in German. Rare as a surname, it would usually be Diedricks, or Dierickx, or variations of these two ending in -s or -x.

My guess is it was made by tin makers with the first initials, for someone named Maarten Diedrick with an undefined surname.

I wonder if 'Les étains de Bruges' also sold antiques, and put their sticker on an old piece.
There is no stamped tinmark, could the sticker be hiding it? Here are some Belgian tinmarks:

Thanks! I'll be sure to check if there is a stamp under the sticker and ask around on the website you send!

I have friends in Belgium and Maartin is used as a spelling for a name.

Tinko-les etains de Bruges is a metalworking company. I found it online.
