Awesome Sir ! I didn't see that Chas-He's fancied it up into a interlocking Edwardian (?) signet.
Yet again we see yer geniusity !
    HERE TIS- (pretty damn sure)-
"I. M. Crook likely refers to John Marion Crook (1857–1924), an early 20th-century American artist known for his landscape watercolors, which were described as outstanding developments in the medium and often depicted misty, luminous scenes. He was educated at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Royal Academy in Berlin, and was a prominent figure in the Pacific Northwest art scene, with his work exhibited by the Pacific Art League".
"By 1903, he was in Portland, Oregon, and his work was considered an outstanding development in watercolor painting during that time. The Pacific Art League sponsored exhibitions of his work in Portland and Seattle"
PS-main thing I gotta do know is find at least one perfect match to this signet-style siggy. 2 bucks, yep :D

Interesting,on the back of the painting someone (artist or framer) has sketched out a profile of the frame molding they wanted.

Thanks Litho-There's a fair amount of images out there and he did some really lovely Tonalist work.
Misty tonalism rendered in WC is a perfect medium to capture our misty Northwest.Dang there's a lot of fine regionalist artists.
"During the last 15 years of his life, he lived on the Oregon coast near Astoria, which offered many opportunities to refine his watercolor techniques."

that ones a beauty, quite unlike most watercolour i've ever seen. He's not really followed the rules (by not leaving the paper as the white) so its much fuller

i can see similarities with the use of colour in both examples

the sea in the above one really is quite something

See the sunrise/sunset (?) transition from blue purple up into peach/rose ? and the highlights on the boat like little jewels.
PS-Didn't totally get him when I saw the little forest WC, course the more you study the more you understand anything.
