Help identify artist from initials - LARGE (50"+ x 34") 1981 surreal painting

I found this at a thrift store today - it is a LARGE (50"+ x 34") and signed with initials - does anyone know who painted this?
I thought it was a Wyland or Jim Warren (he won a Grammy for the cover he created for Bob Segar's 'Against the Wind' album).
Any help with this one would be appreciated.
PS - I know the pics of it are... difficult - as soon as the ground dries I will lay out & take a photo - it can't stand up on it's own & I had to lean it against things & then rotate the image after I took the photo.

IMO, very Rick Griffin/Zap Comix/Surfboard art influenced, but finding the exact artist...

 

It looks like a double album cover, but no idea if it was or to which album.
