Help identify mark on back of Letterbox

Hi all,

Picked up this lovely old letterbox - complete with worn lettering from use.

It has a mark on the rear that I haven't been able to identify.

The Letters inside the triangle are H&S I believe

 

Looks like REG to my eye.

REG is typically used for the word, "Registered"

 

The letters inside the triangle are definitely H&S, I just couldn't get my camera to take a clear photo of them - user error

I guessed the REG would probably be Registered, there is a number to the left but I can't read it, possibly starts with a 3 and ends with a 5.

 

Can we see the whole box? The hardware is often not made by the same company.

 

The pull has a lovely Art Nouveau design, by the way.

 

Looks like the OP has a mail/letter slot, not a letter box. (But it's a beauty!)

Indeed we do. I have always wondered about the US mailboxes at the end of drives and potential thefts of bank statements and personal info. Sorry to go off piste, lovely art nouveau design KittyScar.
