    Great photos, with lots of character - I particularly like the women in the floppy hats :)

    Is the man standing on the sandbags a Canadian Mountie?

    I'd say early 1900's, southern? US, assuming the group was taken by the same person. Military guy is in cavalry uniform. The feather-bedecked hats on the ladies in the launch and the floppy sun hats and long skirts on the "farmers" leaning over the gate.

    When were "personal" cameras invented?
