I'm working through my father's estate (born 1921) and found this wooden device. The tabs are hinged and sprung. Does anyone have an idea what this is? Thanks! Wooden Device.JPG

Look up Bezique, a card game. It is a device to help keep score.

af, I've also seen these as bridge counters. But given I don't play either, who knows. ;)

AF is right. Bezique scorer. Bezique is/was a card-game that was very popular in the Victorian era. I have seen these made of ivory. Winston Churchill and Clemmie were very fond of Bezique.

I've seen these listed as scorers for bridge and whist as well as bezique - just proves (yet again) that you can't trust auction listings as a guide to identifying anything!
