    Hi there,

I have this antique desk desperately in need of refinishing, but before I touch it, I'd love to know more about it. From my best guesses, it looks like a mahogany Drexel serpentine kneehole desk, but I don't see a Drexel mark on it, just some stamped numbers. Could anyone assist with identification or insight? Thank you!

1940s or so, so-called Duncan Phyfe desk in mahogany. Not sure where you got the Drexel attribution but I suppose it could be. Similar to many others made by countless companies other than the foliate decoration on the front. Can't tell from the pic if real inlay or not. Doesn't look like it needs much but I can not see the condition of the top. Would not be worth completely refinishing time-wise but a little Howard's or similar product would probably do wonders for this. Otherwise, this would most likely be a candidate for paint in my Midwest market. Not that I am advocating paint for this, but just not a lot of interest in these here unless painted.
