Help identifying Brass or Bronze urns ?

    Hi can anyone identify if these are brass or bronze and if old , i thought maybe french hand painted on porcelain .
    A guy locally to me is selling them and wants around 80 bucks for the pair am hoping someone can advise if they are worth that.

    if ya like em and have room on your mantle ...they're nice and we see a lot of singles , so the pair is good to see.
    $40 each.....sounds OK.....no matter how new they are............IMO !!

    Base could be brass. The arms and finial might be gilded pot metal.

    There was a time that these would have brought over a hundred a piece. However prices for Victorian items have fallen.
    There was a revival of French items in the 1950s for decorating French Provencial. Those weren't priced as high.

    Hard to say whether they are from the late 1800s or 1950s.

    If you like them, offer him $55 and see if he meets you somewhere in between. If not depends on how badly you want them.
    I wouldn't pay that price to try and resell.

    Wrist to elbow length according to the first picture.

    BFC7A931-009F-4CF4-AF7F-CD88750C527F.jpeg The bottom of the porcelain looks as if it originally fit into a base. Carefully look at how these have been put together. If you like these, maybe a valid reason to ask for a discount.

    I’m guessing these are new due to poor workmanship and design. Many details on these are crooked, don’t mate well with adjoining parts, etc. If u have some definite place for them, sure buy them, but most anyone who has experience looking at fine, old things will be able to tell these are poor imitations, aka junk, and you probably won’t be able to resell them. If you are seriously interested in either collecting or reselling real antiques, learn how to recognize and avoid repro junk like this.

    Thanks for all your input guys, i have decided as per your expert reviews and examinations close up im not going to buy them..
    Im glad i came here first as i wouldnt have spotted they may be modern day repros. :woot:
