Help identifying Japanese Studio Pottery mark?

    I love it!

    Why do you think Japanese?

    The Marks Project (The Dictionary of American Studio Ceramics, 1946 Onward) would be a good place to start... Other ceramics people may be able to provide European databases.

    I searched oval chops (the outer shape of your mark) but didn't see it...

    Thank you for the link! I got the piece in a job lot with other Japanese items so I thought it would be. Someone has suggested it might be the kanji for 'light' but I'm not so sure.

    if it really japanese,i think the mark look like 光 it read Hikari,from the style it could be japanese seto-ware
