    Hi, Bob, and welcome!

I'm not going to be of much help, but I seem to recall that the countries that use the words ETAIN FIN are France and Switzerland. (Fid can correct me if I got that wrong!)

Thank you for the welcome and for the info. I had a feeling that the cup was vintage vs antique. Though despite the unique mark I have not been able to find the maker. I'll keep digging. Thanks again.

don't bother too much about those newer marks and names. they pretend an artistic importance they don't have and are mostly for the tourist market. étain du château/de la rose etc.. olàlà, what a "trouvaille"...:grumpy:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The description of the mark in that old eBay auction sounds odd, since they think it's a tree with two guys and an axe. Actually, the middle object is a large bell, and the figures are holding mallets or something with which to strike the bell.

In any case, this may not matter unless @Bob W wants to list it for sale online and would include a description of the mark.
