    hello everyone,
I come seeking your collective expertise. I have spent countless hours searching for any information about this inkstank. I believe it is American or possibly Canadian and is from around the early 1900’s. It may be plate but I am unsure at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, Lisa. I don't recognize this group of marks offhand, but I can say that it looks more UK than US or Canadian to me. But definitely plated.

I'll keep looking. In the meantime, can you post a picture of the whole item?

I am pretty sure it is "Thomas Prime & Sons"
This means it was produced between 1843-1891. The letter combination which looks like "XP" is actually "MP" which stands for "magneto plate". Here is the more or less complete history: http://www.silvercollection.it/ENGLAPRIME.html

Thanks for the feedback. I have been through countless sites dedicated to European makers marks with no luck so far but my quest continues! The engraved writing says “Billy, from his Godfather F J Turnbull, April 1939”
