    Hi

It’s my first post here, thanks for letting me be part of the forum.

A guy I work with likes buying antiques, he’s bought a tool and has no idea what it is, so I wondered if any of you would know what it is?

    Thanks in Advance

    Jack

Hi @Jack Mileham & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

Are there any markings anywhere on the piece? It looks like there could be something on the band next to the handle.

Just looks like an old triangular file that someone heated and bent.

Looks like someone made them a "Gut Hook" for small game animals or fish.

Other things to ask would be what is the handle made of & is the blade flat or some other shape.

Looks to be flat (?) as the curve goes from one side to the other

I thought it looked multi-sided but didn't know if it was an optical illusion because of positioning. The handle appears to be some type of wood but it is hard to tell from just a single photo.
