DSCN1392.JPG DSCN1393.JPG DSCN1394.JPG DSCN1396.JPG DSCN1395.JPG I received this rug around 30 years ago. I was doing contracting work on a house that had partially burnt. The people threw everything out and I asked and was granted permission to take some very nice furniture. It was actually the homeowner's suggestion that i take the rug as "it was expensive"
I have absolutely zero knowledge of rugs and this has been essentially hanging out in the basement since. Any info anyone could give me at all would be tremendously appreciated.

Certainly appears to be a hand knotted rug and one of this size could have decent value - rug knowledgeable folks will have to chime in to determine origin . Photos are a little out of focus.

Having it "hang out in the basement" does not sound like a great idea. I agree that the pictures should be in better focus. The underside edges have some significant wear and it appears that the fringe is gone?

Yes , fringe is gone. someone else suggested it might be a karastan, but there is no tag, and I searched like a madman trying to match it to any karastan pattern, and while some were close, none were dead on.
    gonna try and redo pictures

Karastan is a trade name - a carpet manufacturer, not a traditional pattern name. It could be one of theirs, but then it would not be hand-knotted.
