Any info on maker and pattern please ?

 

from what I can make out it looks to be KIG Indonesia, not sure what the name is supposed to be but some call it Roses and Hearts

Can you recommend a good website or book to help identify all types of vintage glass as well as a price guide. I've got quite a bunch that I know nothing about.

 

Price guides are pretty much useless these days. No one book will cover vintage glass which is still an undefined time period. Personally I take it to mean after 1950 but others go further back. There are some catalog reprints available from the Muesuem of Glass in West Virginia WVMAG but nothing covering the glass made in Indonesia, China or Japan.

 

Antiquers Dot Com......I hear they are pretty good.....but it's not a value quote website. For that there is no one stop shopping.....ya hafta work at it.

Does the above discussion imply that KIG reproductions are now collectible? (I know they are not exact reproductions, but were made to deceive the unwary.)

 

I suppose it has always been collectible. One of the news letter authors maybe Elaine Koval said she collected Banana labels. The question is who would want to.

 

I used to collect them, just to see all the countries that my banana's came from !!

I remember the show the Kovel's had and where she was collecting the banana stickers thinking that they would be a good collectable. The same was said about Dixie Cup ice cream lids. The baseball ones I made a killing on. I found five or six in an old cigar box from when I was a kid. The Micky Mantle one brought 350 dollars. You never know.
