Hi there! A while back I got a ceramic bust from goodwill. I love her but I have no idea who she’s supposed to be. The piece was like $5 at goodwill so I’m not asking about value, but just wondering if anyone knows who or what she’s supposed to represent or where this image came from? Thanks so much!

I dont think she was supposed to be anyone, this style was very popular in the 40s-50s . Shes gorgeous. Lady head vases is the generic term for these.

Is she actually a vase or a wall mask? No marks underneath? Reminds me a little of this Goldscheider Balinese lady mask.

@A11 Can you show a photo or describe what the back looks like?

First thought like Johnny's was this was a head vase, esp. with the hand like that.

It is a nice piece, would definitely have grabbed that for $5.

    As johnny mentioned 1940s - 50s.
King and I book, then movie made these popular.

Boy did I look around! Betty Nichols, Inarco, Enesco, Elzac, Royal Copley, etc.
I could not find anything like yours except the example that Houseful provided earlier. That being the case, I think it is special.
I found one lady with a turban and that was it. Maybe a jazz singer type, also.
There are SO MANY blonde heads out there, about three brown haired, no black hair, one Asian, and then some unflattering African depictions that don't have the pretty 'Dos and/or makeup. I believe the Bali-Polynesian area seems accurate... unless it's a Vegas showgirl!
Either way, you should keep looking. :bookworm:

I think it's a femme fatale such as seen in the "exotic East" films of the era. Here, for instance, is Marlene Dietrich in one.
