Featured Help needed for identifying French painter

hi all,
I wondered if anyone could help. I have come across this painting with a signature of what appeared to me as y de Q. Please see attached photo. I wondered if anyone happen to know the full name of the painter or any other information?

It looks like the painting was done by a very talented artist.

I would be more inclined to look for a painter from Spain, Portugal or Italy.

 

The painting does look Italian but French artist is a good guess. The Italians don't use "de" at all and unusual for a Spanish or Portuguese surname to contain. Also neither Spain nor Portugal uses a "y" much; not common to find in names or surnames. (The Italians don't even have the "y" in their alphabet.)

That is so sweet.

There are several painters with surname de Quiros or de Quiroz, Spanish, French, and Argentine, but I haven't found a Y de Quiros/z yet.

 

The national origin of the name is no guarantee of the nationality of the named; first and last names do not necessarily have the same national origin. But think the combination of a name starting with Y & a name starting with Q, linked with de makes it more sensible to start the search for the name in French and Spanish than in Italian, no matter what the nationality of the painter may turn out to be.

 

Wiki alphabetizes names that are de ____ under D. They have not picked up a de Q at this time:

As usual, I am probably out on left field on this one but when I read the initials the first thing that came to mind was the translation "and of what" in Spanish.
