latham and morton miss marriage.JPG Hi Guys,
    New to this forum,
I have a piece which I think is a miss marriage and need help identifying it, the marks on the base as far as I can tell are makers Latham and Morton, possibly late 19th century early 20th century, I have looked everywhere for a picture of this item but can not find anything, hoping someone here may have an idea.
Pictures show base, figures etc. the piece measures 4.5cm tall without the cup and 6cm accross. latham and morton miss marriage.JPG latham and morton man.JPG latham and morton marks.JPG

    Welcome peejay.
You need to post your pics within your thread not via the gallery, very few go to the gallery.
Post your pics by clicking "Upload a File".
    Keep your pictures below 1mb.

I've cropped and brightened and resized the 3 pictures from your gallery.

87DA985E-FF0C-4EAB-8B9C-22C3989F2966.jpeg This fellow reminded me of yours a bit. Described as German bottle stopper. Maybe someone contrived this from parts? It could be used as a candle surround or something. But you are correct about a marriage, I expect. :)
Too whimsical for Latham & Morton.

Peejay, I haven't been able to find another like this, either. Either way, I think it's marvelous!

My best guess is that the holder once had a glass insert, but that's just a guess.

The marks on the holder are indeed those of Latham & Morton, for silver plate.
(http://www.silvercollection.it/englalatham.html) I wonder if those "strong little guys" were always attached to it?

Does the insert cup have any marks on it? This one's a mystery...

I think the "cup" is a random "gee, this might fit" addition. Original more likely glass.

Wow, Cheryl & SIS! I'm so glad you found those & ended my misery, wondering how they came to be.

I still think these "strong little guys" are absolutely delightful.

I agree that the cup is probably a marriage, but I'm immensely curious to know what might have followed through with the theme of the stand. They look like gnomish workmen to me.
