Help needed with age of painting.

    The canvas is older. It has an open weave. Late 19th c.? I don't see a signature but who knows what will appear with a little cleaning. I ran out of daylight so the colors are a little washed out. Thank you.

    Frame says circa 1880. Can't tell if the work is that old or not.

    Thank you Brad. Judging from the canvas weave and color, I think the painting is probably from the same time period. When I'm through with the snow crisis, I'm going to clean this up a bit. Maybe a signature or a date will appear from under all the grime. Thanks again.

    Thanks antidiem. I have to sign off right now but when I get a few minutes later on, I will definitely look at some Hudson River paintings to compare.

    I can never tell Hudson River from Barbizon, although, isn't that a European stretcher bar?

    Not Hudson River School. Closer to one of the popular Barbizon motifs...but not really Barbizon either.
