I bought this painting today. It’s a large piece on board measuring 79x59cm . I took it out of the frame as the glass was damaged but it was framed by CD Soar & Son a noted London framer who is listed in the National Portrait Gallery website.

it is dedicated to what I read as Nancy Evans . But I can’t read the signature.

Using reverse image search I found some similar works by a Turkish artist Abidin Dino but I don’t think that it’s his signature although there are similarities.

It is possible that the dedication is to the soprano Nancy Evans as she had very strong connections to a house a few miles from where I bought it.

I would love to identify it. It’s clearly a talented artist and the work is in a 1940s modernist style. IMG_1784.jpeg IMG_1785.jpeg IMG_1786.jpeg IMG_1787.jpeg

    Any ideas?

Hi John.I beleive you are right on both counts. The artist is Abidin Dino, and it us dedicated to Nancy Evans. Signature looks to be a match to me with the two dots ( not sure if it's the right terminology) for them.

Yes agree, work looks right to me. The sig looks as if he used what he had to hand to sign and dedicate.
