Help to Identify Bellows

Have this object I picked up made from brass marked Bellows Patents with a leather strap weighted at both ends with pieces of steel and have no idea of its use.

 

Is that IT??? The WHOLE object you're questioning??? OR can we see it backed off a bit to see it all, I can't make head nor sense of it from what I'm seeing....sorry!!

 

The full name of the inventor, which may help your search, is Arthur B. Here's a list of his patents. (I don't know if it's inclusive.)

The loose piece appears to latch on to the end of the strap. Then what is it like? Is the fitting the same on both ends?

I put in the Patent nos. on the brass piece and Google came up with this, but I don't have that kind of time to delve into it.....it DOES look related though!! Hope it helps.........

This patent is for some chemical process/compound granted to Polish applicants not named Bellows.

 

Hi all thanks for replying found out what the object is, it’s an armchair ashtray my son was able to tell me but with my vast experience (ahem) I didn’t think it could be for smoking !

I found the same item, last week. I thought it was a old bike bell. LOL
But those patent no.s lead me here.
Strap on, armchair ashtrays, seem such a bizarre and dangerous idea. I never would of guessed it, without this post
