Help! Trouble identifying age or origin of this LARGE old cement black figure

    Hey all! I'm trying to research this piece . It's about 60" tall and Is too heavy to pick up by an able body . I think it's early 1900s? There appear to be some markings that might aid in identifying an era or maker etc . I can't make them out enough to come up with any info . Does anyone have any thoughts on it? Looking forward to hearing , thanks!

    Up until the 60s,it was quite common in the south to see black statues as garden ornaments, lawn jockeys and fishermen,etc.I think that what this is,albeit larger than most.

    Hi,
    Looks like what we called Geo Washington's servant who was tied to George's horse to watch him. The ones I remember were about 4' to 5' high. it was to separate them from the negro jockys which were much shorter and usually had a light in their hand.
