Help W/ Badge or Medal Etc. SFB or SBF?

Hello,

Purchased this while I was out wondering today.

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what SFB or SBF?
Or w/e possible letters are there, may be?

I do know that a ribbon is missing as well as another dangly of some sort.



Not sure, any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
No makers mark on the back, so not sure about that unfortunately.

They're still around but I found nothing to pin this down as my comp won't translate their page to look for history info. Perhaps you could do so and contact them.
I like such badges and a shame the ribbon is missing. Perhaps the French flag in red, white and blue?

 

Get some red, white & Blue ribbon.
Fly to France.
Say; 'Wee' a lot.
Put dirt (earth) on your hands and clothes.
Wear the badge.
Don't kill a flower and put it on your lapel.
See if it gets you into a meeting.

 

SBF was founded in 1854. I can't find any similar old emblem of theirs - and this honestly doesn't lok French to me, there's no symbolism on it.

 

the dollar sign design makes me think of Bank of San Fransisco

 

It does look like a dollar sign, so something financial wouldn't surprise me.

 

That's a possibility. I was thinking San Fran something but wasn't sure. Would be very cool if it was!

Didn't think of the financial part, but totally see it!

 

I initially made some effort with this idea and couldn't ring anything up so I don't know either. That's how I got to my French option.
