    I think this piece may be export porcelain, but as I am a student in this area, I really don't know. Only that I admire it. It is roughly 4" tall, and 4 " across. Inner lip is the slightest bit rough, so perhaps it once had a lid. Definitely painted by hand - not decal; 2 handles, and each handle is comprised of 2 strips that cross. No marks anywhere that I can see. Hoping that it is older, but mostly just want to know. Any guidance on origin/age/ correct terminology would be appreciated. TIA.

    Sugar bowl, missing its lid. Pretty! Aren't those crissy-crossy handles German?

    I did wonder if it might ba a sugar bowl. The lid must have gone missing early in its life as there is so little wear.
    I don't have any idea about the handles, so I'll look into the possibility of German. Thank you. I just plain like it. Makes me happy.

    Hope that whoever robbed you gets some glass splinters for their troubles.

    Do you think that the central image is the flower of a chive plant??

    Those look like Chinese export handles.

    That looks Chinese to me, and possibly 18th C. Cornflowers.

    Could you show a picture looking straight on at a handle, please.

    @clutteredcloset49

    Here are some pics of the 2 handles. One has a chip.
    Is there a name for this style handle? I have one other, and like to use the correct terms. (I'll probably post it in the near future.)
    Thank you for looking.

    They look like Chinese export. You usually see them described by the process as far as I know. Extruded handles, crossed, with applied sprigs.

    Good to know. Since I'm drawn to Chinese export, it may be time for me to invest in a book or 2. Are there any you can particularly recommend?

    Always a good question:). First, there are some good online sources.

    Gotheborg.com has lots of info on their site and they have a very good "pay to join" discussion board. My subscription is expired at the moment but if I settle back into some research I'll pay up again.

    One of the books I like has an online database of the collection so you can browse that for free.

    Here are some books that I've got with the second two probably my favorites. The last photo is actually two different covers on what I believe are the same book by Gordon so no need to get both.

    I've got some other assorted so I'll think on it. I'm sure others have some ideas.
