Found this interesting impressionist painting that looks more mid century possibly. is on board and has CFE on back and D'ilias Paris. I think D'ilias may be or have been a cafe. Struggling with the initials and age. IMG_7002smaller.jpg IMG_7002smaller.jpg IMG_7003smaller.jpg IMG_7003smaller.jpg

Love it - looks I think older than mid century.

I love it too. It looks like the blue 'blob' in the centre of this part is a woman in a wide ca 1900 hat:

I wonder if it's not meant to La Closerie des Lilas written in bad French.

Here's the cafe painted in 1908 by the Scottish artist John Duncan Fergusson.

And a 1920 work of the cafe by French artist Clarence Montfort Gihon.

It does resemble this. I think I'd found the same at one point! :)

I think it's genuine impressionist era or thereabouts. Just my uneducated opinion :)

I've been doing a bit more digging on this and have found a couple artists with similar works from the time. Amadeo de Souza Cardoso and Gaspar Miro Lleo(who i can't find much about) Obv neither of these match the initials on the back.

    Gaspar Miró Lleó (1859 – 1930)

Landscape painter of the nineteenth and twentieth century, was born in Vilanova in 1859 and died in Paris in 1930. He started art with the painter Joan Miró Ferrer, after studying at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts at the Market. When finished his studies he went to Paris to extend them for two years. When he returned to Catalonia was appointed Professor of painting and drawing at the School of Arts and Crafts in his hometown, but after a time he returned to Paris. There he presented from 1904 until 1914 with such success, that the City was named “Artist of the town of Paris” and gave him permission to plant his horse anywhere in the city Paris. Dealers vying for his work and his exhibitions at the Hotel Drouot were many other successes. In 1914, due to the war, the family moved to Lyon. After the war ended he traveled and painted by Belgium and Italy. In 1927, due to him being unhealthy air in Lyon, decided to return to his homeland, where he continued painting, although most of his work was sent to Paris, where he died during his travels. Some of his early works are kept in the hospital Vilanova and the collection of Vidal Ferrer and other important collections in Barcelona.

Don't know what else you need to know. He's not your artist.

I thought the style and palette were quite similar. just posted to see what people thought. How did you determine it's not him(Miro Lleo)?

Just my opinion. He appears to be a much more accomplished painter than the creator of your piece. Apologies if I sounded more authoritative than I should have.
