Hi!...This is a thrift purchase...its a oil painting?.....done with a spatula technique I'm guessing?...its approx 16x20....it looks to be on a very course looking canvas, that looks to be almost burlap looking in texture?....but there seems to be a card board underneath the canvas....I'm thinking it have a little age on it because the paint is chipping off in a few areas...I don't know anything about the artist except the first name may be Pablo?....if someone can shed some light on this artist...it would be greatly appreciated..... rsz_1painting_signed_pablo_002.jpg rsz_painting_signed_pablo_003.jpg rsz_painting_signed_pablo_007.jpg rsz_1painting_signed_pablo_008.jpg rsz_1painting_signed_pablo_010.jpg

The technique is impasto and it appears to be a decorative painting from the 1950s/1960s.

I think that's very likely the same or designed to look like the same hand. The artist signs Pablo. Espana (sic) means Spain in Spanish. A lot of commercial art came back to the U.S. with U.S. military personnel. These could well be examples.

I wasn’t sure if it was a surname, ie Peter Spain we have lots of people with surnames English and Welsh etc here in U.K.
If it is the same person maybe it’s an early painting and he thought to add Espana later perhaps, as you say Spain as a location not a name as lots of Pablos in Mexico etc.

Hmm, the paving lines in the foreground are in all of the paintings shown here. Plus the figures/hats look similar. It’s hard to say, the op can do some more research. I don’t know anything about PX, I’m not sure we had them here in U.K.

I’ve been to one of the (Mildenhall or Lakenheath) Airshows years ago when they had the Blackbird flying. I would suppose only authorised personnel could shop at these places as they are considered US territory, I know I’ve never been in one.

I had never heard of them either. Since I've never been to a US military base, I had no idea what sort of abbreviation it could be.
