Featured Help with age or era of three bracelets please

Good morning, I hope you are all well and 2025 is being good to you.

These three bracelets came in a "gold fill" antique jewelry lot I picked up at a recent auction. None are marked at all but they do seem "old" to my untrained eye. I would appreciate any opinions or suggestions as to their age if it can be determined by their style. As always, thank you for looking and any advice you can provide. I can post more pictures if needed.

They are all small 5 1/2 to 6 inches, inside measurement. The first two are hinged.

The first one seems to have Arabic numerals on the clasp. Looks like ٠٣٧ (037) to me. No idea what this could mean in this context...

Amazing, thank you mmarco102. I did a google search on them but the ones you listed did not show up. I guess I should have done a deeper dive into Etsy and Ebay.

Thank you also Marote. I will try a search with that information.

Glad to have helped, but keep in mind that sellers on both Etsy and eBay are not always diligent in doing research and can be misguiding. They often play, follow the leader :hilarious:. Not to say these are in that category, just a passing thought. Let others more knowledgeable chime in.

I tried to find a reputable source, but failed

And that is why I brought the question here. None of the bracelets are marked but I know prior to the late 1800's fineness was not required. I do think they are old/antique and was hoping to get confirmation. The last two are close matches to the ones you found but as you cautioned, I can't just rely on what others list. I do appreciate your help.

Love the bangles-I found an Eastlake/Aesthetic/Etruscan (sorry-I'd say mine was a 'crossover' hybrid motif) enameled GF bracelet last year w/ nary a mark on it.Love this style-they'd blend Japanese,Etruscan,Roman designs into their designs.

Thanks bosko69 - what a stunning piece from Syboni! I hope mine are as old as I think they are.

They may be indeed from the same era,the main difference would be between GF and 14-18K gold.

The first one looks like gold-filled and old, but I'm not sure how old. The other two are Etruscan /Archaeological Revival and Eastlake for sure. The Victorians did a pile in gold-filled, and did it well enough to fool some acid tests. I'd look around the edges with a loupe for brass showing through. The hinged areas may well have brass pins, so they're no help at all. @Ownedbybear might now more when she shows back up.

Thanks evelyb30, that was very helpful. I was hoping Ownedbybear would take a peek. I did a light polishing with a sunshine cloth and are looking a bit better.

Agreed the second 2 are 19th c. Last one is late 19th based on those leaves. Middle one might be more 1850ish? I have a cameo that has the exact same twisted rope and ball granulation ends....

Lovely pieces! They all appear gold-filled to me but a simple acid test would help identify one way or another.

Preferably a scratch test on a stone, as done on one of the edges of the tube pieces. Acid directly on a piece that isn't scrap is a Very Bad Idea.

Yes, never put acid on a piece of jewelry!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the information. It is very helpful. I don't have a testing kit anymore so I can't test as suggested.

Got a loupe? The first test is a 40x, or 20x, or 10x loupe and good eyeballs. Look for places where the brass is showing through.

I will give that a try. Thank you evelyb30. The first bracelet I showed is very thin, very lightweight and almost has no gold on finish on it (anymore). The color showing especially on the inside is a dull silver. So I am pretty sure it is not gold filled.

It might have been gold over silver.
