Featured Help with Age / Origin of Antique Mirror

Discussion in 'Furniture' started by finding_antiques, Jul 20, 2025.

  1. Hi Folks,

I would appreciate any advice on the age / origin of this antique mirror, recently picked up from a thrift store in southern California. I believe it's 19th century, however it's outside my area of collecting. It's quite heavy and looks like the mirror may have been replaced at some point - there also appear to be woodworm holes in various spots on the back.

    Thank you for any info.

Renaissance revival period circa 1880. Looks French so they may have a different designation for it.

Does it look like it would have been hung over a bureau or sideboard? The thin, straight bottom with no carvings doesn't look like it's a stand alone piece. Just wondering :)

Definitely part of something. For a dresser or over a mantel.
