    Hello all
)Just won the bid on this elephant jar that I have never seen before. Image Google bring up a few and many variations animals but all are bronze, as this is not. Could be a repo but if so not a lot being made like this at all. In pre research I did find this link which only has an exact diagram(4th image down):

Because it doesn't look like Zhou ceramics.;)

The Western Zhou dynasty was 1046-771 BCE. It would probably have been too complicated to make a ceramic elephant shaped vessel that would survive the firing process.

The wiki page doesn't specify Zhou period ceramic zuns, just that during the entire period of zun making, ceramic zuns were made. They could have been made long after the Zhou period, for instance during the Song dynasty.

That's OK, it can take a while to adjust to a new concept.;)
