    Thank you

Looks like tourist item to me. I would expect ancient to be worn smoother.

Hard to tell. I've a few of these, bought as tourist bits in Jordan and Egypt and on Cyprus

I believe such lamps are extremely common in ancient sites (think Greco-Roman period and earlier), and also commonly reproduced. Without provenience, you might need a specialist/archeologist to provide an opinion.

This is a "grease lamp". In the 1700s in the US they were metal and many had a ring for hanging. So glad to be living in the age of the "Edison" bulb--reproductions!!

Hey guys just a little follow up on this I had it appraised by a professional, the good news is that it’s an authentic Byzantine oil lamp from the 7th century. However he said it looks like it has been repaired and it’s value is only around $30. He also said it looks like a Greek Christian inscription on the side
Just thought I’d let you guys know.

It almost appears to be shaped like a seal or otter or something. At least the tip looks like the face of a seal like animal. Anyone else see that? It always amazes me how little relics from Ancient Rome and Greece can be worth. There thousands of “collectibles” from the 70s/80s/90s worth much more. I get that they aren’t all “rare” necessarily but it’s surprises me still. Cool piece!
