I can’t provide a photo of the back I’m afraid.

It seems to be signed E.L? And Okt 1920 indicating a European artist.

The costumes could be Breton but a French artist would sign Oct. The buildings in the background could be Scandinavian

    Any thoughts?

There appears to be a word above the initials.

    Nice painting.
    It seems to be written : "Cop E. L. Okt(ober) 1920".
I'm not able to identify the artist but anyway he's german or austrian.

Nice painting. This image is included in Darvill’s ‘Harvest Prints’ but unfortunately unattributed and undated. Theirs doesn’t have the annotation bottom right. Just comparing the two, the Darvill’s print has a wider composition and better detailing eg the woman harvesting in the foreground. That makes me think that yours is possibly a later copy of an original but I can’t track down the original. It feels kind of Dutch or Swedish to me. I think ‘Cop’ may be an abbreviation for Copy but in both Dutch and Swedish it would be more likely written ‘Kop.’.

    I agree.
In those days the Dutch spelling was 'copie', abbreviation 'cop'.
Dutch has had several spelling changes since it was first standardised. Copie v kopie still confuses many Dutch people.;)

Looks to be inspired by The Gleaners by Jean-François Millet to me?( In the figures, not the surroundings x BUT I could be way off )

It came up for sale today but them auctioneer withdrew it because he said it had been wrongly described as a “ harbour” rather than”harvest” scene. So now it will be for sale next week,
