Help With Artist Signature

I found this nice painting earlier this week, and despite my best efforts so far, I can't seem to make out the signature.... It's a tricky one, does anyone else have a guess????? I think the name starts with "BO" or "BA" and I think there might be a word/name on the bottom that possibly starts with "SO" or "GO"??? The back of the painting says John Hale 27 June 1979 but that hasn't turned up anything so far.
