Help with artists name please

I bought this French oil on canvas and for the last two weeks have been unable to decipher the signature.
Mid century I would say and a signature that should be easy to find.
But after scanning numerous books and the Internet I am still no closer to the answer.
So if anybody could help me it would be gratefully appreciated.

Aptly named Les Coupeurs de Lavande. The artist's name is printed below the title. Are you not able to read it?
