I found this last week at a local thrift store. At first I thought it was a fossil until I saw the back had etched in it: AU PUCH GOD OF DEATH & the artist's name Carlos Lopez.
A couple of questions - how did he make this? Is it carved out of the rock like it seems?
Who is the artist Carlos Lopez? - I googled him & found an artist with the same name but I only saw paintings on his website.
Also, is he from Belize? Or is ca short for California?
As always I appreciate your help!

CA in the case of Belize stands for Central America, not California.

WHAT SIZE IT? I put that in all caps to drive home the point. :p

I'm wondering about Mayan souvenir. Though wikipedia suggest "Ah Puch" isn't a valid name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_death_gods

I know nothing on the topic.

According to the internet, the following is an image of the "god of death" from the Dresden Codex (wikipedia article on the codex)

No idea if the internet is accurate on this point.

Piece of slate it looks like. Some local artist selling his stuff at a gift shop for a little extra cash most likely.
