Hi, I have this bohemian glass demitasse set with what looks like enamel flowers. I don't see any signatures or marks anywhere. Trying to determine possible maker and value. Thank you in advance for any help!!

    @Vickig444 - Welcome to the forum!! :happy::happy:

I doubt you will ever pin down an actual maker unless you can find the exact set with some labels or in its original box.

If you are going to sell this set on-line I would list it as a demitasse/dessert set since it comes with the platter & plates to serve pastries.

Not necessarily true. Not even sure Moser did this kind of work.

Cake icing flower decoration was done in many areas.
Venice and Murano Italy, Czech, Japan, as well as Austria.

Time period guessing somewhere in the 1940s-60s maybe even later if done in Japan. (Again just a guess here)

As Peggy said, pinning down the maker will be difficult unless you can find another set with labels or box.

It's a very lovely set. Don't think I have ever seen a complete set before. Very nice.

If selling on line, keep in mind the shipping is going to be very expensive. You may not get the full value of the set.

    Welcome to our board.

While this kind of decor was done in Bohemia, it was also done in Italy as well as Japan, so not only may you not be able to determine a manufacturer, you may not even be able to determine in what country it was made unless there is a label.

Cluttered beat me to the punch :)

Thanks again for your insight... any ideas on value? I do intend to sell online and sell the pieces individually or in small sets.

Anaother consideration: often the manfacturer and the decorator were separate identities.

What a shame to break up the set.
Very unusual to find a set this complete. You could sell one cup, saucer and plate. Leaving you with a set of 6.

Are you in a large metropolitan area?
Do you have a Facebook Marketplace in your area?

I'm open to selling as a whole set. But have no idea what to ask? Yes I'm in the Boise area and have Marketplace. Do you really think I could sell locally better than online? Appreciate your help!

Might be worth trying first to avoid shipping fees. You never know.

I have to get off the computer until later.

Try searching ebay completeds for Cake Icing Flower glass. See what is selling at what prices. Be sure to remember to add the shipping fees, as that is what people were willing to pay.

I just looked and you are right. Nothing is listed that way anymore.
Found some decanters listed as Venetian glass flowers. But no plates.

@msgood2shoe - have they changed what they call this? Thought it was called cake icing flowers. Am I wrong.

The "cake icing" description seems to have fallen out of vogue.

Is there a new term that has replaced it?
