The only marks I can read on this Civil War Era shell gauge are “German Steel” and an odd little logo, like a person squeezing a heart with tongs. Or whatever. Can anyone ID that logo? The shell gauge was a “no go” gauge for muzzle-loading round cannon shot and shells. The new shells or shot were rolled down a trough while the ring gauge was held over the sphere, if it hung up it was rejected.

Actually, don't really want to take a guess as to what that logo could be....as it could be someone trying to be funny or not!! You're almost pretty close with your guess maybe, Spring!!!! I just don't know, kind of thought the figure to the right could be a cat, but anyway, tried to darken the outlines a bit. Thought I saw some lines also inside of the lightened area to the right, but couldn't make them out.....

I think the logo is actually a 3-leaf clover overlapping a heart.

Thanks, yes the high spots of smooth rust do look like that but they “don’t count.” The original logo stamp consists of the dark lines and when obscured by rust you have to fill them in mentally. Hope to get it cleaned somewhat soon.
