We got a beautiful ruby ring today that is marked but we can’t seem to find anything like it when researching. There’s also a little hook that we’re wondering is for… is it missing something or is it maybe to hold another band?
    Any help is appreciated!! TIA!

It was likely a two-part ring set, joining to a fancier surround.

    PS:
    Something like this ...

The hook is for a matching wedding band. It would have had a hole on one side to attach to. Rubies are likely lab made.

that's what I thought most likely .... because something seems to be off with the prong above the hook , as if intentionally for something to buttress up next to the middle stone....

but I'd have to see it to believe it......cuz it's bloody odd !!!

Haha my vintage set, from my grandmother, has this but the hook has long since broken off before it was mine. I have the more common square shaped illusion kind that sit together nicely though.

yup, 1st set I bought...the two fit together in a geometric design, like a glove.
    it looked like one ring....;)
I've never seen the hook before...:wideyed::wideyed:

Thanks so much for all your help! We figured it was missing something, so we’ll have to keep an eye out at the store for the other piece if it still exists!

White gold was the "thing" for wedding jewelry in the 50s and into the 60s. I bet there's a white gold band around somewhere with similar markings. Or there was. Sometimes a lady takes her engagement ring off and just wears the wedding band when she gets older. The wedding band may not exist any more.
