HELP WITH NAME/TYPE OF RICHARD KERR DRESS(?) EARRINGS

These are another pair of earrings I found in 1 of 4 boxes of jewelry left to me by my mom. I've learned that Richard Kerr is a big (big = expensive!) name in earrings, but being a guy I'm lost in knowing earrings 'lingo'!
What do I call these? J shaped?
Are there such things as dress earrings? (as opposed to casual)
The way these things sparkled with every flash from the camera & especially when I shined a flashlight on them, I think these were made for a party or somewhere with spotlights, etc..?
I know these questions probably sounds dumb but I really don't know this stuff & want to make sure I list them correctly to reach the most potential buyers

Here's a pair like yours that sold for $100. Described as "nautilus shaped" which I don't think very compelling.
