    Hi All,
I'm wondering about the age of this piece. It is unmarked, the little part you put a chain through seems different to me, it is held in place with a screw and moves up and down. The pin is long, it extends a bit past the edge of the piece, not sure if that means anything or not? No marks on it. The centre piece is facet cut, probably glass?
I don't know if the chain is original to it, the chain is 10K Ecco (Canadian Co). Is there a name for the style/design of the chain?
    any information is appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

The back on that is no earlier than the 1930s. I suspect that's when it's from. Chain has nothing to do with it.

    This piece is gorgeous!
I believe that is called a paper clip chain.
    The stone may be amethyst.
Get a white bowl and fill it with water.
Submerge the pin, and look at the stone. If you can see any kind of zoning or stripes in the color, it may be genuine amethyst.
    This piece is gorgeous!

Beautiful colour. Makes me think Royalty when I see that deep purple. Simple but so elegant.

It's got enough depth to be amethyst, although there was some fabulous faux stuff coming out of Bohemia back then.

The bail moves up and down so you can put it down out if the way when it's worn as a pin :)

This may be a variation on the paper clip chain, sometimes referred to as a peanut chain.

thanks Marie. Yup, I know what it is, I've just never seen one with the screw part before so I thought that might help date it:)
