Help with Rug ID?

Discussion in 'Textiles, Needle Arts, Clothing' started by EastCoastTreasures, Aug 26, 2023.

  1. Hi;

    Not sure type, age, price. Roughly 9'8.5" long x 6' 8" wide. I've read the back and fringe direction are most important in identification so that is what I hope comes through. It also has a plastic Seal tag which I have no idea what that means. No damage. Bright, plush, clean rug.

    I sent pics to two rug dealers with no response. Any information would be appreciated.

    Think the seal tag means it has been inspected. By customs, perhaps?

  3. I thought so as well and tried to look up the number to see if it was associated with a certain manufacturer. No luck. Of course it's hard to read 2-3 of the numbers clearly.

    My guess is that the seal relates to its importation, not to its manufacture, but WAG.

    If you want an ID of the rug itself, you'll have to show us more than just a small detail.;)
    From what I see, it doesn't look very old.

    agree, when I imported a new handmade rug from central asia I had to have it certified that it was not an antiquity, they put on a small lead seal with a certificate, otherwise I wouldnt have got it on the plane home...

  7. Hi again;

    More pictures of my rug. Hope these help with some sort of identification.
