    Hi everyone,

Picked this up yesterday at a local thrift store for cheap, can anyone assist with the markings. I was initially thinking french but so far haven't figured it out:

There should also be a square mark with a 2 digit number inside, representing the number of grams of silver used in the plating.

Honestly...I knew it was silverplate, and while I love finding silver I couldn't resist purchasing it...I liked it what can I say :) :) :)

You had to buy it for the puzzle factor.

I feel like recently we have seen that ribbed design with the x on another object. Is yours a cosmetic piece?

I really wasn't sure of the purpose. Maybe it will be my coin jar :) :)
