This is not the 19th century Thomas Cole, but does anyone know anything about this T. Cole? I can only find a few similar paintings of his online that sold at auction but nothing about the artist yet. Also, any guesses as to what this scene is depicting and where? America or Europe? Sorry the pictures are not high res. I can take more if requested. Thanks for any input.

Believe this to be a factory painting and doubt there is a real T. Cole that painted it. The frame is identical to one I had on a painting re-framed in 1984. The frame is likely more valuable than the painting.

Possibly. I'm not really looking for a value because I only gave $80 for it yesterday and yes, the frame is worth more than that. I just bought it because it is pretty. :shame: I really wanted to know more about the artist and the scene that it depicts. Here are some others I found online. Whoever it is, real or not, seems to be popular.

Thank you. The T. Cole artist of my painting and my examples (and the beach scene in one of your links) is a different person than the famous landscape artist Thomas Cole. I think some of these sites are grouping them together which is making it difficult. The T. Cole I'm looking for may very well still be alive. I'm starting to think the subjects in my painting may be Dutch?
