Help with this English gold mark?

    There is this ring that I am very interested in buying for myself however I can't for the life of me figure these marks out. I know the crown and the 18 are for 18kt gold but the date letter as well as the assay office confuses me. I need help in deciphering it please!

    May I recommend that since you want help with the City mark and date letter, that you post a pic for us that has both of those in the center of the image and well-focused.

    That's the only seller image, not my own... now that I am looking at is closer the city mark appears to be Chester, and the date may be 1903?

    I think its Chester (on its side) 1890
