Help with wooden box

Can anyone help with this little box? All the inlaid design on the top has a thin brass trim. The hinges are hidden up into the wood and the seams have wooden pegs no glue nails or staples. The design has a Folk Art look to me.

 

looks like a cigar box...and i don't think it's tribal..

Is that one brass lined? With little different pieces of wood or one piece?

Your box is from Poland, date probably 1970s-80s. Lovely folk motif and hand made, but a lot of these were made. Similar motifs are seen on Polish embroidery.

Tribal Polish. A Northern Slavic tribe.

Very different culture and not nearly as numerous as the recent Polish souvenir boxes. That one is early 20th century Jepara, North Java, Indonesia. Handcarved and most likely teakwood. I know which one I prefer.

 

Yours isn't of different pieces of wood either. What looks like wood inlay is actually staining of one and the same piece of wood for a nice decorative effect.
