Visited Banbury today. Quite an ordinary English town but with some quite distinctive buildings. St Mary the Virgin Parish Church stood out and is quite grandiose. There are a few other Georgian remnants too. A few charity shops there and a couple of biguns. St Catherine's hospice has stuff piled on stuff and the salvation army store was packed with bric a brace too. There is also an Orinoco store there too. It wasn't what I expected however. Although the window was full of porcelain, treen and metal items, inside it tended to be packed with haberdashery type stock. Fabrics and buttons galore. Not my sort of thing.

My one and only find in the town was this pin dish. I gave up buying Quimper a good while ago as my items have never created that much in interest. I have a feeling that they weren't that old. It seems that there is a lot of modern repro HR stuff about. This has a bit of an older feel about it though.

The shape is inspired by the Breton ermine symbol:

Pub tables seem to make a great back drop.

The 'tail' is too long and wide for a fleur-de-lis imo. The Bretons tend to be fiercely Breton (like the Scots being fiercely Scottish), so a fleur-de-lis is unlikely anyway.

Thanks. Interesting to know. A bit over my head so I will have to educate myself.
