Daryl Yeates Playing at being an 'antique dealer'

I've had this figure for many years and nobody has been able to shed any suggestions as to his origin.
He is heavy, probably plaster. He stands about 670 mm high and has no markings at all.
I'd guess he was created for a purpose, perhaps a film or show?
The bird in his hand must have some significance?
    He is nicely made.
    Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the black Americana statues had a theme or advertising - this one might be "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush"

Yes, maybe promotional? It is interesting as you say.
One of those items that you hang on to out of curiosity!
I'm hoping somebody will come up with the answer to his origin.
    Thanks for your response.

I'd heard of the 'bird in the hand' before... yes, his origins could be as simple as that.
    Thanks for comments,

I'd think he's just what he looks to be. A decorative chalkware figurine. From his clothing, well into the 20th century. 1920s I'd think.

I have to say that it's great to receive all of the interest from everybody here, a really good community. I can't find one quite like it here in the UK
    Thanks to all

That they did. Don't know if this is connected, though.

Not a common piece for sure.

26 inches seems a bit tall for a decorative item of this nature in the home, but who knows. Intriguing!

Hope you can figure this one out. :)

There's been some interesting comments from all.
Not quite figured it out as yet but it's passed a stormy Sunday afternoon, here in UK!
