I'm very uninformed when it comes to antiques but I'm trying to a help a recent widow in my family. This piece was her husband's and she needs my help to find it a new home. So I'm trying to establish a value and then figure out where to list it. Basically, I'm unsure it will sell for what it's worth on something like Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Lol.

So far, all I know is that it was purchased in the 80s for around $400. The tag says Heron Son Dining Room Furniture of Distinction. What I've found so far is that it was likely made in London in the 1930s. It is an art Deco cocktail bar. When you pull down the front "flap", the top opens with it. It has a light but the plug has been removed from the wire. It has etched glass sliding doors where you keep glassware and that area has a detailed mirror that the glassware sits on. It's a really neat piece. I just have no idea where to start so I googled "antique forums" and here I am. Lol. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Unsure how to do that. That's why I included a link to the photo album in imgur.

Fwiw, the file upload button restricts files to under 1 mb but gives no option to downsize so to be able to post the pics direct, it looks like I'll have to go downsize each photo first. If there's an easier method, I'm all for it. Lol

Its fantastic ! Id peg it more 1940 or so. The problem is people just arent into big pieces like this,no matter how awesome. being a bar may help a little, but I still think it'd be a hard sell.

Thanks for the input! If you had to sell something like this, where would you list it? Are there online sites like an eBay but for antiques?

    Welcome, Jburnes.
Love that bold sideboard/bar. As cluttered said, it is Art Deco.
There are sites for antiques, but this is not antique. Most of those sites have a strict 100 year rule, and with most you have to be a registered antiques dealer. It is not cheap to sell through such sites, and it is only profitable if you sell a certain amount.

I don't know what is in style in Texas.
However, Austin is a large area.
If you have time, check a few antique malls for similar items.

You should be able to sell on Craigslist.
Be sure to check the ebay sold items to see what key words they used.

Definitely use Art Deco in your ad.

If you are not a seller on ebay and have no experience there, I would not try to sell this there.

Not 1940. Our furniture factories were making guns and bombs then.

It's clunkier than the 20s Deco stuff we did, so it may be very late 30s. BUT. The handles are early 50s. So are those transfer flower motifs on the glass. It's very reminiscent of radiograms and TV cabinets of that period, too. I'll lay odds it had a matching TV and radiogram.

Having dug a bit, it looks as though Heron were a 50s maker in London. Shortlived I suspect - I've seen that label on some stuff in charity shops.

I bet there was a matching radio/phonograph console to go with it.
