Hi, My name is Savannah. My father who was 95 passed away this past January. My Father was stationed in England in the 1950’s and became very interested in collecting antiques. During the 1960’s he collected and bought many antiques and opened and antique store. He loved art glass and furniture and collected many things over the years. I learned a few things from him and definitely got the love of art glass. I am now in possession of a lot of my Dad’s collection. I have given some of it to my kids but I kept some of his favorite pieces. I truly hope I can learn a lot from all of you on this site about some of. The furniture, clocks and art glass my Dad collected throughout the years.
Welcome, Savannah! Sorry for your loss. We will love to see all of the lovely things your father collected.
WELCOME Savannah !!! .. Was your father stationed at the US Air force base in Manston, Kent. by any chance ?? I was on that base quite a bit in my early teens babysitting, then we moved to Canada in 1957. Anyway ... you will love it here, great people and TONS to learn ... Joy. ..
Hi Savannah! Welcome to Antiquers........... My condolences on your loss. As Christmas Joy stated, we all learn something by being here.
Welcome to the forums! We love pictures on this forum. Start a few topics and add some pictures of your father's glass, preferably one piece at a time or multiple pieces by the same maker or pattern.
Greetings, Savannah. It's wonderful that you have taken up your Dad's avocation. A great way to keep his memory alive.
Thank you for the welcome. My Dad was stationed at Travis AFB in California. From there we moved to England. He flew to Japan and was a pilot in the Korean War as well as WW2. I use an iPad mostly when online. Can you post pictures with a tablet? I would be happy to share pictures.
I'm not an Apple user, so I'm not sure. Most non-computer photo posting questions are from those using phones - both iphone and android. Can you send photos by email with your iPad?
You should be able to. Many users have to re-size/crop their images before they post them. I also strip any metadata from mine.
I use an iPad, it was more difficult getting the pics small enough using my old iPad mini and I had to crop them down a lot but my newer iPad lets me select the pic to under I mb to post. A warm welcome btw!
I have figured out how to upload pictures. Somehow they end up sideways, but I will figure it out. Thanks for the help!
